  5.     The Santa Barbara police department has an awesome new weapon
  6. in its arsenal: Blue Persuasion. To encourage contact with the
  7. community along State Street, the town's main drag, officers now
  8. cruise in a customized police sedan that sports a hip metallic
  9. blue paint job, murals, mag wheels and a booming stereo.

  11.     "It shows the police have a sense of humor," says Melissa
  12. Weisenberger, a shop assistant on State Street. Somebody else
  13. has a sense of humor too. The organizers of a local auto show
  14. have asked Santa Barbara officers to be the judges of the Car
  15. Most Likely to Be Pulled Over by the Police contest. Blue
  16. Persuasion is not in the running.
